Armed members of the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) opened fire on a police flag march in Rawalakot, damaging a police armoured personnel carrier (APC).

According to sources, law enforcement personnel came under intense gunfire at Eidgah during a flag march conducted on June 14. The leading APC of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Police was hit by around 30 bullets fired from different small-calibre weapons.

Officials said the APC sustained significant damage, with both rear tyres bursting after being struck by gunfire. More than 30 bullet marks were found on the vehicle’s body following the attack.

It is worth mentioning here that a new audio clip attributed to the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) raised serious questions about the organisation’s claims of engaging in “peaceful activities.

According to media reports, a conversation between alleged JAAC leaders Sajid Azam and Hameed Kashmiri can be heard in the recording. In the clip, discussions reportedly concern advancing toward Rawalakot, the movement of processions, and strategies for possible entry into the area.

Some parts of the audio also claim the presence of a large number of supporters and refer to the preparation of armed groups. The conversation further includes remarks about reaching Rawalakot, putting forward various demands, and securing the release of their associates.
