Police have arrested Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, from her residence in Lahore, according to sources.
Sources said Aleema Khan was taken into custody from her residence in Upper Mall, Lahore. Media reports said the arrest came after the deputy commissioner issued a detention order under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (3-MPO) on a police request.
According to the police request, authorities sought to detain Aleema Khan over concerns about a possible threat to public order.
After her detention, Aleema Khan was taken to Lytton police station, while her vehicle was also moved there.
Authorities will decide whether to shift her to Kot Lakhpat Jail or Central Jail in light of district government orders. A decision will also be made regarding the duration of her detention under the MPO and whether she will be formally arrested in any case.
The development comes as PTI has announced a march towards Islamabad on September 27.
Meanwhile, a medical examination of Imran Khan has been completed at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.
According to jail sources, a special medical team from PIMS Hospital has completed the examination and has since left the jail.
The team was headed by PIMS doctor Arif Khan and included an eye specialist and other doctors, along with paramedical staff and the equipment required for the medical examination.
