The Lahore Arts Council Alhamra, on Tuesday announced a major revival of quality commercial theatre, supported by the Punjab Information and Culture Department.
The new project aims to bring back meaningful stage entertainment and promote family-friendly theatrical productions that are based on cultural values and artistic excellence.
A press release stated that the goal of this initiative is to rebuild Pakistan’s theatrical identity by launching script-based productions that boost creativity, intellectual engagement, and socially responsible entertainment, all while honoring the country’s cultural heritage.
Alhamra applications open till June 30
As part of this revival, Alhamra is now inviting actors, comedians, scriptwriters, directors, and technical production experts to join its large production team.
Both new talent and seasoned theatre professionals are encouraged to take part in this initiative, which aims to start a new era of refined stage productions that combine humor, creativity, and compelling storytelling.
Applicants are required to submit their professional profiles, recent photos, and performance samples, which may include acting or comedy video clips, scripts, or creative portfolios relevant to their area of expertise.
The application deadline is June 30, 2026, and auditions along with related activities will take place at the historic Alhamra Arts Center.
In light of the recent announcement, the Executive Director of Alhamra, Muhammad Nawaz Gondal, stated that the institution is dedicated to restoring the prestige of commercial theatre by presenting productions that showcase intelligence, creativity, cultural sophistication, and positive entertainment.
