All entry and exit points across AJK are operational: IG AJK

Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Liaqat Ali Malik, stated that false and fake news is one of the biggest challenges of the modern era. He urged the public to verify any information before sharing it, as malicious elements are spreading misinformation and false propaganda regarding the situation in Kashmir.

Addressing a press conference, he made it clear that all entry and exit routes of Azad Jammu and Kashmir are fully operational. The movement of vehicles and people is continuing normally, with no disruptions reported.

He stated that some miscreants are spreading misleading information and baseless propaganda about the situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, aiming to sow anxiety and misunderstanding among the public.

He added that fabricated narratives are also being created using modern technologies, including artificial intelligence, and urged citizens to adopt a responsible approach.

The IG Police rejected reports of route closures in AJK, stating that all major transport routes in the region are open and that people can travel as usual. He also expressed concerns over a BBC report on the matter, saying that international media should thoroughly verify facts before publishing news.

He further noted that the spread of false information and rumours can affect the law and order situation, and urged citizens to rely only on authentic and official sources. He appealed to the public to refrain from sharing unverified content in the interest of national unity, social harmony, and peace, and to verify any suspicious news with the relevant authorities.

Reiterating the commitment of law enforcement agencies, the IG Azad Kashmir said that the police are fully mobilised to maintain law and order and protect the lives and property of citizens. He added that with the cooperation of the public, negative propaganda and rumours will be effectively countered.

Responding to a question, he stated that supporters of the banned JAAC were allegedly involved in looting vehicles carrying food supplies and disrupting public movement in several areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, causing difficulties for residents. He added that the authorities have been issuing regular situation updates and keeping official helplines operational around the clock to assist and guide the public.
