Mike Hesson reveals Pakistan's World Cup-focused preparation plan

Pakistan cricket team head coach Mike Hesson has said that preparations are underway with a clear focus on next year’s ICC Cricket World Cup.

Speaking to the media during the ongoing white-ball training camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore, Hesson emphasised that the intensive training sessions are designed to help players meet the demands of international cricket and prepare for major upcoming tournaments.

He emphasised that players need to be fit and physically strong to meet the demands of international cricket. Therefore, the camp is focusing extensively on both fitness and strength conditioning.

Hesson stated that the white-ball camp has been underway at the NCA since June 15, with 27 to 28 players taking part. He added that an individual development plan has been prepared for each player.

“We are not simply coming in and training every day; we are working towards specific goals,” Hesson said. “Over the next three weeks, each player will have clear areas of focus. We will work on their technical, tactical, medical, and conditioning aspects.”

The Pakistan head coach also expressed excitement about working with the Under-19 players participating in the camp. He said that young talents must be given opportunities, experience, and challenges to prepare them for representing Pakistan at the highest level.

Commenting on the Asian Games squad, Hesson said it is a well-balanced combination of experienced players and young talent. He added that there is still sufficient time to further develop the squad and ensure it is well-prepared for the competition.
