Punjab govt launches anti-smog guns in Faisalabad

Director General (DG) Environment Punjab, Imran Hamid Sheikh, has launched advanced anti-smog guns in Faisalabad to improve air quality and reduce environmental pollution, in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz for a clean, green, and healthy urban environment.

The inauguration took place at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, where DG Environment officially activated the anti-smog guns by pressing a button.

This initiative aims to decrease airborne dust particles and reduce smog through regular water spraying at key locations across Faisalabad.

Notable attendees included the President of the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI), representatives from the All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association (APTPMA), leaders from the Power Loom sector, and Amanullah Malik, Rector of The University of Faisalabad.

During the event, DG Environment Imran Hamid Sheikh stated that the Punjab government is using all available resources to ensure a clean and healthy environment.

He added that modern technology is crucial for effectively addressing smog and environmental issues in rapidly growing urban areas such as Faisalabad.

He also mentioned that environmental protection and sustainable urban development are key priorities for the provincial government and added that coordinated efforts among district administrations, environmental authorities, and other stakeholders are essential for achieving long-term improvements in environmental conditions.
