APNS, CPNE delegations meet DG ISPR

A delegation of the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) and the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) met Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry in Rawalpindi.

The meeting discussed matters of mutual interest, the current national situation, media-related issues, national security and rapidly changing developments in the region.

National affairs, media and security discussed

According to details released about the meeting, the participants exchanged views on the country’s current situation and matters of national importance.

Media-related issues and national security were also discussed, while the participants reviewed developments in the region and their possible implications.

Shehzad Akbar makes claims on social media

PTI leader Shehzad Akbar later commented on the meeting in a post on social media platform X.

In his post, Akbar claimed that a message regarding the establishment’s position was conveyed during the meeting and alleged that discussions also took place about the future administrative structure of the country and media owners.

However, the publicly released details of the meeting describe the discussions in broader terms, focusing on the national situation, media, national security, matters of mutual interest and regional developments.

The meeting between the DG ISPR and representatives of APNS and CPNE therefore centred on issues concerning the country’s current situation, the media and national security, while Akbar subsequently presented his own account of the discussions on X.
