Web desk: The federal cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, on Thursday approved key amendments to the three service acts in light of changes to Article 243, according to the reports.

The ranks of Field Marshal, Marshal of the Air, and Admiral of the Fleet will be given legal coverage. Legislation has been approved for the Chief of Defence Services post.
Legislation will also be done for the post of Commander of the National Strategic Command.
The Amendment will be presented in the National Assembly shortly.
President Signs 27th Constitutional Amendment Bill
President Asif Ali Zardari has signed the 27th Constitutional Amendment Bill into law. The bill had already been approved by both houses of Parliament, and following the President’s signature, it has now officially become part of the Constitution.

The Senate on Thursday passed the 27th Constitutional Amendment Bill with a two-thirds majority after voting on several additional clauses.
The session was chaired by Chairman of the Senate Yousaf Raza Gilani, while Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar presented the proposed amendments to the house.
According to details, clauses 2 and 3 of the bill were approved with 64 votes in favour and 4 against.
The Senate also endorsed the National Assembly’s decision to delete clause 19, receiving the same 64–4 vote margin, effectively removing the clause from the bill.
Similarly, clause 55 was deleted from the bill on the recommendation of the National Assembly, while the amendment made to clause 53 was approved by the Senate with a two-thirds majority.
The National Assembly had passed the 27th Amendment a day earlier, with 234 members voting in favour of the constitutional amendment and 4 members voting against it.
Following the passage in both houses, the approved constitutional amendment bill was forwarded to the President for final approval, thereby completing the legislative process and making the bill an official part of the Constitution.
