The Islamabad District and Sessions Court has issued a non bailable arrest warrant for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Wednesday.
The non bailable arrest warrant has been issued over his failure to appear in a case involving misleading allegations against state institutions.
The court has ordered an immediate arrest for CM Sohail Afridi and that he be presented before the court at the next hearing.
A case has been registered against him under the PECA Act by the NCCIA.
Senior Civil Judge Abbas Shah presided over the hearing, which has been adjourned until February 10.
KP chief minister Sohail Afridi is also facing a case before the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
The case is over an alleged violation of the code of conduct during a recent by-election for a National Assembly seat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
A day earlier, the Peshawar High Court barred the ECP from taking any action or issuing a final order against CM Afridi in a case concerning a notice over alleged threats to government officials during the Haripur by-election.
‘Sohail Afridi asking for proof of Afghan terrorism is major dishonesty’: Umar Cheema
Senior journalist Umar Cheema, while speaking on Geo News’ program “Report Card”, strongly criticised the recent statement of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.
He said that Sohail Afridi’s demand for evidence of terrorism in Afghanistan is a great act of dishonesty against the interests of Pakistan.
He said that TTP is their armed wing, and mothers’ children are dying. And the Chief Minister is making such statements; he should be held accountable.
According to him, politics cannot stoop to this level. Such a serious issue is being politicised, and that too by the Chief Minister of the province, which is the most affected by terrorism.
