Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, said on Thursday that Iran does not want war but will defend itself against any external aggression.

Speaking at a media briefing at the Iranian Embassy in Islamabad, Moghadam said Iran still hoped the situation would not turn into a conflict. However, he warned that any attack on Iran would not be seen as an attack on Iran alone but on the entire Muslim world.

The ambassador said the Iranian government had taken major steps to control inflation while maintaining market stability.

He thanked Pakistan for supporting efforts to prevent war and stressed that Iran has no intention of targeting any head of state, adding that the country remains committed to diplomatic solutions.

Moghadam said that during recent protests in Iran, 3,117 people were killed in violent incidents, while security forces eliminated 690 terrorists. He added that violent mobs destroyed 305 ambulances and buses, as well as 24 gas stations.

According to him, attackers also damaged 700 shops, 300 houses, and 750 banks. He said mobs destroyed 414 government buildings and 749 police stations, while 120 health centres, 200 schools, and 350 mosques also came under attack.

Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghaddam thanked Pakistan for taking a principled stance and extending unwavering support to Iran at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva.

In a statement, the ambassador said Pakistan voted against an anti-Iran resolution at the UN Human Rights Council and praised the country’s principled role under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.

He said Pakistan took a courageous step by calling for a vote on what he described as an unjust resolution against Iran, adding that political and baseless actions targeting Iran have now failed for the third consecutive time.
