Pakistan cricket team has secured fourth place in the ICC ODI rankings, moving ahead of Australia after impressive victories against Sri Lanka and England.
As a result of its victories in the ongoing tri-nation series in Rawalpindi, Pakistan’s rating points have risen to 103, while South Africa, in third place, leads by just one point with 104 points.
India ranks first with 115 points, followed by New Zealand in second place with 109 points, while Australia has slipped to fifth position.
Pakistan’s improvement in the rankings was largely due to its impressive 87-run victory against England, in which young all-rounder Arafat Minhas played a prominent role.
He scored 59 runs off 58 balls before taking six wickets for just 40 runs.
Despite losing four wickets for 81 runs at the start, Pakistan scored 302 runs thanks to Hasan Nawaz’s 79, Arafat Minhas’s half-century and Faheem Ashraf’s aggressive 39 runs.
In reply, England were bowled out for 215 runs.
Pakistan is now just one point away from overtaking South Africa.
If the national team maintains its winning streak, it could climb further up the rankings.
