Australia have announced their ODI and T20 squads for the upcoming home series against England, with Mitchell Marsh named captain for both formats as several key Test players are rested ahead of the busy international schedule.

The squad announcements come after Australia’s Test series defeat to South Africa on Saturday. Travis Head, Matthew Renshaw, Cameron Green, Alex Carey, Josh Inglis and Cooper Connolly have been included in the ODI squad following the Test series, but none of them will feature in the T20 series against England.

Meanwhile, 21-year-old fast bowler Mahli Beardman has earned a return to international cricket after an injury layoff and has been selected for both formats. All-rounders Jack Edwards and Liam Scott have also been included in both squads, marking an opportunity to represent Australia on home soil. Young batter Ollie Peake, 20, has been named in the ODI squad.

Australia chief selector George Bailey said the team was managing an extremely demanding schedule, with players moving directly from the South Africa tour into the limited-overs series against England. He added that managing workloads and ensuring players remain physically fresh would be crucial ahead of the upcoming Test series against New Zealand.
