Applying for an Australian visa from Pakistan has become easier with the launch of the Australian Immi App, now available to eligible Pakistani applicants.
Announced by Australian High Commissioner Tim Kane, the new system allows users to complete key parts of their identity and biometrics verification using just a smartphone, reducing the need to visit visa centres in person and streamlining the overall process.
Key features of the Australian Immi App
- Lets eligible applicants:
- Scan passport details
- Submit facial biometrics (live photo)
- Cuts down:
- Extra visits to Australian Biometrics Collection Centres (ABCC)
- Time and cost of the visa process
Who can use the app?
- You must:
- Have received a biometrics instruction letter
- Have a Visa Lodgement Number (VLN) starting with AUI or AUH
- If your VLN starts with any other code, you must go to an ABCC in person
Phone and app requirements
- A smartphone with:
- Camera access
- NFC enabled (for e-passport chip reading)
- Location services turned on
- Stable internet connection
How the process works (simplified)?
- Enter VLN
- Scan the barcode on your biometrics letter or type the VLN manually.
- Each family member enters their own VLN.
- Scan passport
- Scan the data page clearly.
- If your passport has a chip, hold the phone on the cover until the chip is read.
- Confirm details
- Check that the app’s passport data matches your document.
- Rescan if anything is incorrect.
- Take a live photo
- Neutral background, clear face, no shadows, glasses off if possible.
- The app auto-captures when aligned correctly; you can retake if needed.
- Submit identity check
- Optionally add an email for confirmation.
- Data goes directly to Australia’s Department of Home Affairs and is not stored in the app.
- ImmiAccount is usually updated within 24 hours; if more information is needed, the department will contact you.
