The first trailer of the upcoming Harry Potter and Philosopher’s Stone has come out, and it has already made history.
In the span of only 48 hours, it has gained amazing 277 million views, becoming the largest trailer launch of all time for HBO and HBO Max.
The return of the Boy Who Lived clearly had a tremendous effect on the world, as fans both old and new are very excited to revisit the magical world once again.
This new adaptation of the beloved tale of J.K. Rowling takes a significantly more in-depth and immersive method, with each book being a whole season.
The first season is a reimagining of Philosopher’s Stone, giving it a new interpretation with a new cast while retaining the familiar charm and nostalgia of the original series.
The trailer itself is a very emotional thing; it gives the audiences a deeper insight of Harry’s journey.
In one particularly poignant moment, Harry reflects, “I’ve always wanted to know about my parents,” which set the tone for a story that deepens its focus on identity and belonging.
Hagrid, as played by Nick Frost, gives one of the best lines in the trailer – “Your parents were the kindest, bravest people I have ever met.”
The moment is able to generate a sense of excitement as well as a feeling of a past that remains unchanged.
Viewers are also treated to iconic yet short glimpses of Ron, Hermione, Quidditch and the Sorting Hat, so they know the magical elements that fans love are still intact.
In the cast are John Lithgow as Dumbledore and Paapa Essiedu as Snape, and Francesca Gardiner as the creative director of the show.
As anticipation is growing, there remains a huge question: Can this new addition to the series uphold the legacy of Daniel Radcliffe and the original series of films? Audiences will be able to see when the series will premiere in Christmas 2026.
