Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has strongly criticised those questioning the expenses of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s recent London visit, saying the chief minister had already decided to personally bear all costs of the trip.
Azma Bukhari said she had already made it clear that Maryam Nawaz would pay the expenses of her London visit herself.
She accused political opponents of launching propaganda against the chief minister without waiting for the official expenses to be calculated.
According to Bukhari, Maryam Nawaz had given clear instructions before leaving for London that she would personally cover the costs of her visit.
The provincial minister explained that government expenses are calculated and paid through a legal procedure. The final cost can only be determined after the visit is completed, followed by the required assessment and payment process.
Bukhari questioned how the exact cost of the trip could be known before the chief minister had even returned to Pakistan.
She also accused Maryam Nawaz’s critics of hypocrisy, alleging that those who had previously wasted public money were now pretending to be concerned about government spending.
The minister urged critics to wait for the official figures instead of spreading what she described as baseless propaganda.
