The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has clarified whether children can obtain a B-Form using only their father’s Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) if the mother does not have a CNIC.
A citizen asked NADRA whether a child’s B-Form could be issued against the father’s CNIC if the mother did not have an identity card.
In response, NADRA officials said there would be no issue if the mother had never been issued a CNIC, as her identity could be verified through her fingerprints.
However, they warned that difficulties could arise if the mother’s identity details had not been registered with NADRA. In such a case, there could also be a possibility that the parents’ marriage had not been registered in the system.
Officials explained that if the marriage registration was missing, the family number may not have been generated, which could make it difficult to obtain a B-Form for the child.
NADRA therefore advised that both parents should have their identity details properly registered and their CNICs issued to avoid complications when applying for a child’s B-Form.
The authority’s clarification highlights the importance of ensuring that parents’ marriage and identity records are correctly registered with NADRA before applying for children’s identity documents.
