‘Embarrassing’: Fans react to Babar Azam’s six-run knock against England

Pakistan Test captain Babar Azam’s six-run knock against England in the second Test has disappointed his fans and sparked criticism from cricket figures.

Babar was dismissed for six runs off eight deliveries, including one boundary, leaving Pakistan at 14/3 after 7.1 overs.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reappointed Babar Azam as Test captain in July. He replaced Shan Masood, who was removed from the leadership role following a string of poor results.

England are currently leading the three-match Test series 1-0 against Pakistan. In the first Test, England secured an innings and 103-run victory.

Following Babar’s poor performance in the second Test, former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Hafeez criticised the team. In a post on X, Hafeez wrote, “Spineless attitude.”

Fans were also left deeply disappointed with Babar Azam, who was leading the team but was dismissed early in the innings. Here are some of the reactions:

Babar did not play the opening match against England after suffering a finger injury to his right hand. The injury was initially sustained during the second Test against the West Indies and was aggravated during Pakistan’s practice match in Beckenham ahead of the three-Test series.

It is pertinent to mention that his recent performance has not been impressive in any format. He was once ranked the No. 1 ODI batsman by the ICC, however, he has now slipped to sixth place following a series of disappointing performances, including major World Cup failures.
