National Test team captain and star batter Babar Azam expressed frustration after his dismissal during a Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match, slamming his bat onto the pitch while walking back to the pavilion.

Representing Lahore Region Whites, Babar reacted angrily on the fourth day of their opening-round match against Federal Areas Region in the 2026-27 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy (Gold). Chasing a challenging target of 412 runs, Lahore Region Whites suffered another setback when Babar was dismissed for 42 off 77 balls, including six boundaries.

The dismissal came in the 34th over bowled by Shahid Aziz. Babar attempted to guide the delivery towards the slip region, but a fielder stationed there completed the catch, ending his innings.

Clearly disappointed with the dismissal, Babar slammed his bat onto the pitch as he made his way back to the pavilion. This was not the first time Babar had expressed frustration over a dismissal during the match. Earlier, on the second day, he had also shown displeasure with an umpire’s decision in the first innings. Facing fast bowler Afaq Afridi in the final ball of the 28th over, Babar opted to leave the delivery, which was collected by wicketkeeper Rehan Afridi. Following an appeal from the bowler, the umpire raised his finger, giving Babar out.

Unhappy with the decision, Babar gestured towards his thigh pad, apparently indicating that the ball had struck his pad rather than his bat. He returned to the pavilion after scoring 28 runs off 40 deliveries, including six boundaries. Babar’s return to domestic cricket comes after a disappointing campaign in the recently concluded ODI tri-series featuring Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka. He scored just 118 runs in five matches at an average of 23.60 and a strike rate of 74.21, failing to register a half-century. His scores in the tournament were 45, 34, 10, 29 and [insert final score] against Sri Lanka.
