Residents of several Bahria Town schemes have expressed concern following multiple show-cause notices issued by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) over alleged violations involving unauthorised development, the conversion and use of public amenity plots, and deviations from approved layout plans.
The notices concern Bahria Town Phase III-E & IV, Bahria Paradise Commercial Scheme-IV, and Bahria Enclave.
A separate CDA notice issued in January 2026 regarding Bahria Paradise alleged that development and sale activities were being carried out without the required No Objection Certificate (NOC). The authority warned that violations could result in measures including demolition, sealing of properties and other legal action.
The notices have raised concerns among residents about the possible impact of the regulatory action on their properties and ongoing development in the affected schemes. The concerned parties have been asked to explain their position and address the alleged violations in accordance with applicable regulations.
However, the CDA has not declared the entire Bahria Town illegal. The documented action relates only to specific schemes, phases and alleged violations identified by the authority.
Arrest warrants issued for Malik Riaz
Back in January, an accountability court issued arrest warrants for Malik Riaz, his wife Bina Riaz, his son Ahmed Ali Riaz and four other people in a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) case.
During the hearing, NAB prosecutors Manzoor Shah and Hana Ashraf presented a report that had been prepared by Muhammad Ramzan. The report said a formal reference had been filed after examining the available evidence and official records.
The court also ordered the seizure of the Mall of Islamabad and directed that the property be confiscated by the state. Official notifications for the confiscation were later issued.
In addition to this, the court directed three of the accused to submit bail bonds worth Rs500,000 each.
It also ordered authorities to strictly enforce the arrest warrants issued against the remaining accused.
