The Balochistan government has banned events and organisational activities at all government colleges across the province, according to official orders issued from Quetta.

The restrictions apply to government boys and girls colleges, including postgraduate, degree and intermediate institutions.

Under the new directives, no organisation, group or association will be allowed to hold an event or organise an activity on college premises without prior approval from the competent authority.

The order means that student groups and other organisations seeking to arrange programmes, meetings or other activities at government colleges will have to obtain permission before proceeding.

Authorities have directed college administrations to ensure that the instructions are implemented across the province.

The government has not publicly provided detailed reasons for the restrictions in the order cited, but such directives can affect student gatherings, organisational activities and events held on educational campuses.

Government colleges in Balochistan serve thousands of students across the province, including those studying at intermediate, degree and postgraduate levels.

The restrictions are expected to place greater responsibility on college administrations to monitor activities on campuses and seek approval for events involving organisations or groups.

The decision comes amid wider concerns in Pakistan over the regulation of activities and gatherings at educational institutions.

Further clarification from the provincial authorities could determine how the restrictions will affect routine student and academic activities.
