Border 2: Bollywood returns with another anti-Pakistan war film

India comes up with another anti-Pakistan movie

LAHORE: There seems to be a dearth of cinematic writing talent in Bollywood as it has come up with another anti-Pakistan movie, Border 2, starring Sunny Deol.

Border 2 which is a sequel to J.P. Dutta’s 1997 film Border is set  to release on January 23, 2026, during India’s Republic Day extended weekend

Border 2 is directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta is primarily based on India’s 1999 Kargil War against Pakistan, and showing a one sided story and devoid of the truth.

Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty are the lead male roles while Sonam Bajwa, Mona Singh, and Medha Rana play the main female roles in Border 2.

The cast includes Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. Female leads include Sonam Bajwa, Mona Singh, and Medha Rana.

Sunny Deol returns as a lieutenant colonel, reviving his old patriotic image.

The teaser has already gone viral and one dialogue shows Sunny Deol roaring that “ Awaz Lahore tak Jani chahia” triggered memes and eye-rolls. Many viewers called it “loud” and “jingoistic”.

Earlier this month, Bollywood also released Dhurandhar, which also revolved around cross-border spy politics. It shows a violent world of gangsters and intelligence agencies in Karachi.

Portraying Pakistan as the main enemy is not new for Bollywood. Spy thrillers have used this theme for years. In recent times, major studios have leaned even harder into such stories to earn millions at the box office.
