Budget 2026–27 timeline finally revealed

The government has released the schedule for the federal budget 2026–27, confirming that the budget will be presented in the National Assembly on June 10.

According to the schedule, the government will outline its financial priorities, economic policies, and overall strategy for the upcoming fiscal year in the budget document.

The Pakistan Economic Survey will be released on June 9, a day before the budget. The survey will provide a detailed review of the country’s economic performance during the current fiscal year, including growth across key sectors, major economic indicators, and the results of government policies.

In the federal budget, the government will present details of its revenues, expenditures, development projects, and financial management plans before Parliament. The budget documents will also set targets for resource allocation, development priorities, and overall economic goals for the next fiscal year.

Officials say the budget is expected to include various measures related to taxes, subsidies, and public relief to support different segments of society.

The government will also present its roadmap and priorities to ensure fiscal discipline while continuing progress on key development projects.

Earlier, the government was in the final stages of preparing the budget for the fiscal year 2026–27, and discussions over the proposed minimum monthly wage have also come into focus. The federal budget is expected to be presented on June 10, with preparations currently underway.

According to the proposals under consideration, the minimum monthly wage in Pakistan may be increased to Rs. 45,000 for the next financial year. The recommendation has been put forward by the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE), which has suggested an evidence-based framework for setting the wage level.
