Bushra Bibi’s sister, Maryam Riaz Wattoo, has claimed that Bushra Bibi has met with the former Prime Minister Imran Khan in Adiala jail on Tuesday.

Maryam Riaz Wattoo wrote on her X account that members of her family and Bushra Bibi’s daughter’s family were allowed to meet the former prime minister.

She said Mr Khan had received a second injection the previous night, but it was too early to say whether it would improve his condition.

“His eye remains swollen, and his condition is unchanged from last week,” she wrote.

Ms Wattoo added that Mr Khan had once again asked his sisters, working with his lawyers, to file urgent petitions seeking permission for his personal doctors to examine him.

Mr Khan is currently being held at Adiala Jail.

There has been no immediate official statement from prison authorities about the meeting or Mr Khan’s health.

Bail granted in seven cases

Meanwhile, a district and sessions court in Islamabad has granted bail to Mr Khan and Bushra Bibi in seven cases.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka heard the petitions seeking bail before arrest on Tuesday.

After arguments from both sides, the court approved the requests.

The cases include charges related to the events of 9 May, the Azadi March protests, attempted murder, vandalism, and alleged fake receipts linked to the Tosha Khana matter.

A separate case concerning alleged fake Tosha Khana receipts was registered against Bushra Bibi.

Prosecution raises objections

Lawyers Raja Naveed Hussain Kiani, Mazhar Bashir, and Tahir Kazim appeared in court on behalf of the prosecution.

They argued that there was substantial evidence against the couple and said they were not entitled to bail.

The court, however, granted relief after hearing both sides.

Mr Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has faced dozens of legal cases since his removal from office in 2022. He and his party say the cases are politically motivated. The government denies this and says the legal process is independent.

Ongoing legal and political tensions

The developments come amid continued political tensions between PTI and the government.

Mr Khan remains in custody in connection with other cases. His party has repeatedly raised concerns about his health and access to medical care.

Court proceedings in several cases are ongoing.
