The Sealion 6 will become the first BYD vehicle to be assembled locally in the country. The announcement was made at the Pakistan Auto Show 2026 where BYD displayed its latest electric and hybrid vehicles.
The company took part in the event with Mega Motor Company. BYD said the local assembly plan is an important step in building its presence in Pakistan.
The project is also expected to create a local production network for BYD’s new energy vehicles in the country.
Which BYD vehicles were displayed at the Pakistan Auto Show 2026?
BYD displayed several vehicles at the auto show. These included the Sealion 6, Atto 2 and Shark 6 Anniversary Edition.
The Shark 6 was displayed in the “Outback Orange” colour. The company also showcased the Denza B8 from its luxury brand Denza.
A range of genuine BYD accessories was also displayed at the event.
BYD said its growing vehicle range will give Pakistani buyers more options besides traditional petrol-powered cars.
What range will Sealion 6 offer?
The Sealion 6 uses BYD’s Super DM-i hybrid technology. The company says the technology has powered more than 8.5 million vehicles worldwide.
The system combines electric driving with plug-in hybrid technology. According to BYD, the Sealion 6 can provide a total range of up to 1,100 kilometres.
The vehicle mainly uses electric power during driving. It can also balance electric and hybrid power when needed.
BYD said the system helps improve fuel efficiency. It also aims to reduce concerns about battery power during long journeys.
What is the potential for Pakistan?
BYD Pakistan Country Head Li Xian said the country has strong potential for new energy vehicles.
He said the company’s presence in Pakistan shows its confidence in the local market.
Li Xian said the Pakistan Auto Show also allowed the company to present its current vehicles and future plans.
He said local assembly of the Sealion 6 will be an important part of BYD’s long-term plans in Pakistan and its move towards new energy mobility.
