Karachi: NCCIA arrests 273 people
The NCCIA also arrested 273 people during a raid on a call centre located on Shahrah-e-Faisal in Karachi.
The raid was carried out on Tuesday night. More than 250 people were working at the call centre, including young men and women.
During the operation, officials seized 339 laptops, 152 mobile phones and four CPUs.
What was happening inside the call centre?
Investigators found that the call centre had been operating for several years. It had also been raided in 2025.
A case was registered against the owners and management at that time. However, the workers were later released.
Reports said the management restarted its operations and also hired underage boys and girls.
Around 42 workers reportedly did not have national identity cards. Despite this, they spoke English well and allegedly used their language skills to target people in the United States.
How were people allegedly targeted?
The suspects reportedly offered credit card deals and loans at low interest rates. Their main targets were retired people.
They allegedly used these offers to collect private credit card and bank account details. The information was then used to carry out financial fraud.
