Canadian Foreign Minister (FM) Anita Anand is set to visit Pakistan, marking the first visit by a Canadian foreign minister in nearly two decades.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the minister will undertake an official visit to Pakistan on July 20, 2026.
During her visit, she will meet Deputy Prime Minister (PM) and FM Ishaq Dar. The two leaders will discuss Pakistan–Canada relations and explore ways to strengthen cooperation in trade.

Anita Anand has been Minister of Foreign Affairs since 2025, she was appointed by Canadian PM Mark Carney.
Canada pursues a broad range of interests in its bilateral relations with Pakistan, including trade and investment; climate resilience; energy security and critical minerals; people-to-people ties; governance and democracy; human rights; development cooperation; regional security and defence; counter-terrorism and anti-crime capacity building.
Canada and Pakistan are economic partners with growing trade and investment ties and significant potential to develop further.
In 2025, bilateral merchandise trade surpassed $1.2 billion, reflecting complementary strengths in sectors such as agri-food, manufacturing, and consumer goods. Increased commercial engagement between the two countries reflects Canada and Pakistan’s commitment to peace, prosperity, and inclusive growth through trade and investment.
