On Friday, Cape Verde’s goalkeeper’s mom, finally obtained a visa to see her son in action in the world’s biggest tournament. This added another emotional chapter in the story of Vozinha.

Ana Candida Evora travelled from Praia, who received a US visa. She received a US visa after emotional comments by her son during a post-match interview.

The match was against Spain and Vozinha saved multiple goals and was awarded the player of the match.

Vozinha, who cried after the game, broke down in tears after the match and announced that his grandparents who raised him had passed away and that his mother couldn’t come to the United States to see this crucial point in his career.

His poignant words soon spread across the internet and people all over the world rallied in support of him.

Evora was in a pink shirt with a smile on her face when she greeted the FIFA representatives and airport officials on the Friday afternoon when she arrived at Miami International Airport.

She briefly spoke to reporters before proceeding on her journey, where she will meet her son before the key Group H match against Uruguay on Sunday in Cape Verde.

“He is a good man, I wish him good luck and a good match,” she said.

However, delighted that his mother will get to see him play in person at a World Cup, Vozinha has called for focus to be kept on football as Cape Verde work towards the knockout stages.

The debutants have already impressed so far, and if they manage to register another success against Uruguay, they’d be making a step closer towards a historic achievement.

Having his mother in the stands, though, may be the biggest win of all time for Vozinha.
