The 40-year-old goal keeper of Cape Verde, Vozinha, is all the internet can talk about after Cape Verde’s match with the football World Champions Spain.
After the match ended tears streamed down the face of the 40-year-old as he realised the magnitude of what he had achieved. His side was able to draw a match with World Cup favourites Spain.
Vozinha saved 7 goals in the match.
The moment the match ended the stands erupted with thousands of Cape Verde supporters. The supporters had carried their team with relentless noise for 90 minutes.
The fans were seen celebrating together, dancing, hugging and relishing the result.
After winning the match the players raced to each other on the pitch in complete joy. The neutral audience by that time had also started supporting Cape Verde.
The 40-year-old goal keeper delivered a performance of his lifetime. He became the reason for the most iconic and memorable result in the country’s history.
Vozinha when asked why he started crying after the match said that he cried because he grew up with his grandparents and they were unfortunately not there. They had died a few years ago and they did everything for the goal keeper.
Vozinha was also awarded the player of the match.
He further revealed that he was also crying because of his mum. His mum was not able to be here because her visa did not come through. He said that he really wanted her to be here.
When asked about the strength of the team he said their greatest strength is the unity of the team regardless of whether a player arrives today or has been with the team for a while we treat all the players like family.
