Cattle theft cases reported across Lahore ahead of Eid ul Azha

Upon the arrival of Eid ul Azha 2026, several cases of cattle theft have now been reported across parts of Lahore.

According to the report, the Cantt Division topped the list with 72 cases of cattle theft, while 67 cases were registered in the Saddar Division and 40 cases were registered in the Model Town Division.

On the other hand, 24 cases of cattle theft were registered in the Iqbal Town Division, 18 cases of cattle theft in the City Division, while 4 cases of cattle theft were reported in the Civil Lines Division so far this year.

According to police records, the Cantt Division also topped the list with 24 cases of bicycle theft, 22 in the Saddar Division, 14 in the Model Town Division, 12 in the City Division, 8 each in Iqbal Town and Civil Lines Division.

Karachi launches crackdown on illegal cattle markets

The recent development comes after Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi gave instructions for a crackdown on illegal cattle markets citywide, which had been emerging in every corner of Karachi.

Enforcement operations were launched by the local authorities before Eid ul Azha to curb the illegal animal trading centres.

According to officials, several people were arrested, and cases have been registered against the people operating the illegal sale points.

Police officers were further deployed at the site to stop animal trading from resuming.
