The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has ordered the sealing of the offices of four housing societies in Islamabad. The action is linked to alleged violations of approved plans.
The housing societies include Soan Garden, Bahria Town, Jinnah Garden and Accounts Group Officers Cooperative Housing Society (AGOCHS).
According to official CDA letters, the societies allegedly failed to follow their approved layout plans. The authority also said they did not meet its requirements despite several notices.
Why is Soan Garden facing action?
The CDA has accused Soan Garden of making changes to land that was reserved for parks, a graveyard and public buildings.
The authority said the society also developed around 585 kanals of land without an approved layout plan and the required NOC.
What action is being taken against Bahria Town?
The CDA said Bahria Town did not meet some conditions linked to the approval of its Phase III-E and Phase IV schemes.
The authority also raised concerns over alleged changes to land reserved for parks, a graveyard and other public facilities in different phases.
Jinnah Garden also under CDA action
The CDA alleged that Jinnah Garden developed housing schemes without getting the required NOC.
It also said land marked for parks, green areas and public facilities was allegedly used for other purposes. These facilities included schools, hospitals and graveyards.
AGOCHS Housing scheme-I
The CDA said the approved layout plan of AGOCHS Housing Scheme-I had been cancelled.
The authority also alleged that the society changed sites that had been set aside for public facilities.
Which offices are to be sealed?
A senior CDA official said the authority will move ahead with the sealing process.
The societies will first be served show-cause notices and final notices. The CDA will then take further action according to its rules.
