The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has imposed a Rs20,000 fine on a citizen for wasting water while washing a car outside his house in Sector G-11/2. The action comes as the authority steps up enforcement of water conservation rules in the federal capital.
According to a challan shared by the CDA on X, the action was taken following a complaint from a citizen and a video circulated on social media showing the individual washing his car on the road. The CDA said the citizen was issued a challan and legal proceedings were initiated under the relevant law.
The authority warned that strict action would be taken against those who violate water conservation regulations. It also said precautionary measures were being taken amid growing concerns over dengue in the area. The CDA took action against the individual on August 10 and directed him to appear before the authority on August 17.
On the other hand, National Highways and Motorway Police, the entry of heavy vehicles into Islamabad and Rawalpindi will remain closed from midnight on August 13 until midnight on August 14.
The Motorway Police spokesperson advised motorists to check traffic conditions and obtain the latest updates by calling the Motorway Police helpline at 130 before travelling.
Meanwhile, Trails 2, 3, 4 and 5 in Islamabad’s Margalla Hills will remain closed to the public on August 13. According to the Islamabad administration, it has also been decided to keep the trail behind Saidpur Village closed on August 13.
