The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has issued an enforcement and anti-encroachment notice concerning alleged illegal structures or developments outside the Islamabad residence of JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman. According to media reports, CDA has issued an encroachment notice to Fazal-ur-Rehman’s residence in Islamabad, stating that a security guard’s cabin and a generator have been installed on CDA land.
The authority has directed the removal of the unauthorised structures within 15 days, warning that the encroachments must be cleared within the stipulated deadline. On the other hand, CDA has cleared approximately 36.5 acres of encroached land in Islamabad’s Sector I-15, paving the way for the development of around 500 residential and commercial plots nearly two decades after the sector was launched in 2005.
The anti-encroachment operation was carried out in Sub-Sector I-15/1, where more than 300 structures, including houses, cattle sheds and havelis, were removed from Sheikhpur village. According to the CDA, these encroachments had been obstructing development work in accordance with the sector’s approved plan. The authority said the cleared land accounts for approximately one-fourth of Sector I-15 and includes residential and commercial plots that had remained occupied due to illegal encroachments.
A significant number of the affected allottees are retired government employees whose investments have remained tied up for years due to delays in the development of the sector.
The issue was brought to CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf’s attention during an open forum. Following the complaints, he directed the Enforcement Directorate to take action against the encroachments and retrieve the occupied land. The CDA has also instructed its Planning Wing to immediately initiate planning and development work in the cleared area to accelerate the process of handing over possession to the allottees.
