The Ministry of Religious Affairs has issued an important advisory for Pakistani pilgrims planning to travel from Iran to Iraq by road, warning that the Al-Shaib border crossing has remained closed since October 21.
According to a ministry spokesperson, cross-border movement through the Al-Shaib crossing has been suspended, and the border will remain closed to passengers, vehicles and commercial goods until further notice.
The spokesperson said Pakistani pilgrims currently in Iran could travel to Iraq through Baghdad and Najaf airports.
The ministry advised pilgrims to check the latest travel instructions before planning their journey from Iran to Iraq. It also directed Ziyarat group organisers to immediately inform pilgrims about the border closure.
The spokesperson further clarified that Pakistani pilgrims could not use an alternative land route through the closed Al-Shaib crossing.
Pilgrims were urged to confirm the latest travel situation with their respective Ziyarat group organisers before departure to avoid inconvenience.
