The Motorway Police have issued a traffic advisory for travellers on Monday. It has announced a temporary road restrictions and traffic diversions on different highways due to heavy rain and maintenance work.
Emergency traffic advisory
According to a Motorway Police spokesperson, the entry of passenger vehicles has been temporarily closed near Charsadda at kilometre 504 on the M-1 Motorway because of heavy rainfall.
The police have advised people to check the latest weather and traffic updates before starting their journey. Travellers have also been urged to drive carefully and follow safety instructions.
The traffic has been diverted at several locations on the E-35 Hazara Motorway because of the repair of a high voltage power line.
According to the Motorway Police, traffic is being redirected near kilometre 96 on the southbound main carriageway, kilometre 95 southbound near Bedrah, and kilometre 84 northbound near Qalandarabad.
The diversions have been put in place so the repair work can be completed safely.
The Motorway Police have also asked the citizens to avoid unnecessary travel where possible. They also urged drivers to follow the traffic advisory and use alternate routes to avoid delays and inconvenience.
NHA raises toll rates on national highways
The National Highway Authority (NHA) recently increased toll charges on national highways and several major motorways across Pakistan. The new rates came into effect on Friday, July 10.
Under the new rates, cars will now pay Rs100 at toll plazas on national highways. Wagons will pay Rs200, while buses will pay Rs300. The same rates also apply to the M-3, M-4, and M-5 motorways.
M-3 Motorway
On the Lahore to Abdul Hakeem section of the M-3 Motorway, cars, jeeps, and taxis will now pay Rs1,000.
Wagons will pay Rs1,500. Minibuses and coasters will pay Rs2,200, while buses will pay Rs3,150.
M-4 Motorway
On the Pindi Bhattian to Multan section of the M-4 Motorway, the toll for cars, jeeps, and taxis has increased to Rs1,350.
Wagons will pay Rs1,950. Minibuses and coasters will pay Rs2,900, while buses will pay Rs4,050.
M-5 Motorway
On the Multan to Sukkur section of the M-5 Motorway, cars, jeeps, and taxis will now pay Rs1,500.
Wagons will pay Rs2,200. Minibuses and coasters will be charged Rs3,250, while buses will pay Rs4,600.
