Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz ordered the removal of the DC Lodhran after a child died in an open manhole incident.
The seven-year-old Rehan fell into an uncovered manhole while walking with his father.

The manhole contained eight to ten feet of sewage water from the sewer line.
Two individuals have also been booked for negligence – Senior Sub-Engineer Tariq Mehmood of the Highway Department and contractor Haji Muhammad.
CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif stressed that such negligence by officials will not be tolerated; hence, she ordered the removal of DC Lodhran, and strict action will be taken to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
Earlier, a three-year-old child fell into a manhole near Nipa Chowrangi, Karachi.
Eyewitnesses described the manhole as a gaping hazard; its cover was missing for several days, with no protective barriers in sight despite its location in front of a high-traffic commercial hub.
Images shared on social media showed a large number of citizens gathered in the area. Other videos also showed the child’s distraught mother screaming for her child.
Deaths from falling into open gutters and manholes frequently occur in Pakistan. The gutters are filled with toxic sewage and lack oxygen, making it easy to suffocate or drown within minutes.
