WEB DESK: The CM of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, took off the hijab of a Muslim doctor at one of the official events.
This is a disgraceful event that occurred in the secretariat of the CM in India. A freshly recruited doctor was gathering her appointment letter on Monday.
One of the videos posted by viral media portrayed the Chief Minister challenging the dress code of the woman.
Afterwards, he removed and lifted the veil from the doctor’s head. An official quickly took the confused women from the stage.
The horrific incident rapidly brought about intense criticism all over the world. Moreover, it brought great suffering to the religious minorities in India.
The opposition parties were very critical of Kumar’s action. The Congress party accused the CM of this “vile act” on social media.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) party went further to doubt the stability of Kumar’s mind. The incident takes place amid the records of the rising hate crimes in India.
Critics link this environment with the Hindutva agenda of the ruling BJP. The office of the CM has not made an official statement.
The doctor who received this public humiliation has yet not be apologised to by anyone from the government.
