Cole Allen, a California man has been accused of conducting an attack on a gala dinner attended by President Donald Trump. He will be appearing in court on Monday.
According to the New York Post the suspect before the attack had written a message to his family. In the message he had stated that his targets will be prioritised from the highest ranking to the lowest.
Political Violence is becoming more and more common in the divided America and this is the latest example of it.
Officials in the administration have said that the suspect in the shocking attack planned to kill senior officials and Trump at the press dinner. This would be a third attempt at the President’s life in two years.
When the attack happened Donald Trump was rushed out of the ballroom by the agents of Secret Service. Trump also posted surveillance footage of the gunman attempting to sprint past a checkpoint.
Photos of the suspect were also shared by Trump who was handcuffed lying shirtless on the carpeted hotel floor.
On Sunday night the President gave an interview on the show 60 Minutes, where Trump was asked if he feared that there would be casualties. On this question Trump said that he was not worried and that he understands life and that the world has gone crazy.
Todd Blanch the US Attorney General also said that the suspect is not actively cooperating and will be formally charged on Monday.
“We do believe, based upon just a very preliminary start to understanding what happened, that he was targeting members of the administration.”
The President has also said the gunman had written an anti-Christian manifesto. He didn’t provide further details.
The President also told Fox News that the suspect was a sick guy and his sibling was complaining about him to law enforcement.
