Education Department issues weekly holiday schedule for colleges, universities

All public and private colleges and universities across Punjab will operate on campus for four working days a week, from Monday to Thursday, under the latest directive issued by the provincial authorities, according to a notification issued today.

The notification clarifies that academic activities will continue during these days.

In addition, any examinations already scheduled will be held as per the previously announced timetable without any changes.

Punjab announces new weekly holiday schedule

The Punjab Education Department has announced a new weekly holiday schedule, stating that all schools across the province will remain closed on Fridays, according to a notification issued on Wednesday.

As per the notification, both public and private schools will operate from Monday to Thursday. School timings on these days will be from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM.

For institutions running in two shifts, the first shift will be held from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM, while the second shift will take place from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM.

Schools in Punjab reopened on April 1 after remaining closed from March 10 to March 31, during which classes were conducted online.

HEC directs universities to resume physical classes

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced that all public and private universities across Pakistan will resume physical classes from April 1, 2026.

The directive was issued by Prof. Dr Zia ul Haq, who instructed vice chancellors, rectors, and heads of institutions to ensure immediate compliance.

According to the official notification, the decision follows a previous letter dated March 10, 2026.

It also confirms that all universities and degree awarding institutions (DAIs) are to restart on campus academic activities from the specified date.
