The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to integrate their databases, aiming to simplify the attestation and verification of educational documents.

According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, the integration will streamline the attestation process, reduce delays and improve access to services through digital certificates and online facilities.

The new system is expected to eliminate the need for in-person visits to government offices in most cases, providing particular convenience to Pakistanis living abroad.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said improving consular services had remained one of his priorities.

He noted that Pakistan introduced the apostille system in 2024, adding that making educational document attestation more accessible and convenient was another important step towards improving public services.

Dar also appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, HEC and other relevant stakeholders in advancing the initiative.

The database integration is expected to make document verification more efficient and reduce administrative hurdles for students, graduates and overseas Pakistanis.
