Section 144 has been imposed in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), for one week, according to a notification issued by the district administration on Monday.
Under the order, protests, rallies and public gatherings will not be allowed in the city. The notification also bans the gathering of five or more people at one place.
The district administration has warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone who violates Section 144.

Before this, the Karachi administration had extended Section 144 for another 10 days due to concerns about road closures and the law and order situation.
According to a notification issued by the Karachi commissioner, the restrictions will remain in place across the city until October 20. Protests, rallies, demonstrations and sit-ins are banned during this period.
Section 144 imposed in Rawalpindi and Murree
Earlier, the Punjab government imposed Section 144 in Rawalpindi and Murree for one month due to the law and order situation.
According to the official notification, the restrictions will remain in place from October 10 to November 8.
The order bans public gatherings, rallies, processions, sit-ins and protests in both districts. Gatherings of more than five people are also prohibited.
The restrictions also ban batons, petrol bombs and weapons. Pillion riding on motorcycles and the use of loudspeakers are also prohibited.
Officials said the decision was taken due to security concerns. Strict legal action will be taken against those who break the rules.
What is Section 144?
