Dense fog forced the closure of several motorway sections late Sunday night and into Monday as it covered plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Sindh.
According to a Motorway Police spokesperson, authorities closed the M1 from Peshawar to Buhan, the M3 from Faizpur to Darkhana, the M4 from Faisalabad to Multan, and the M5 from Multan to Zahirpir for all types of traffic.
In addition, officials banned the entry of heavy vehicles on the M5 section from Rahim Yar Khan to Rohri due to extremely low visibility.
The Motorway Police said they took the step to protect lives and property amid dangerous weather conditions. Dense fog has also affected several cities along the National Highway, where visibility remains very poor.
