Islamabad makes driving license process fully digital

The driving license system in the federal capital, Islamabad, has been made completely paperless, according to the reports on Monday. This means that now the citizens will only need to bring their original identity card to get a driving license.

According to the details, Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi officially launched the fully digital and paperless driving license system at the traffic police department.

The purpose of this step is to remove long paper procedures and to help save the citizens’ time.

IG Islamabad and Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Muhammad Sarfraz Work said that citizens will no longer need to bring any forms, photocopies, or passport-size photographs. Only a valid CNIC will be needed.

They also said that the entire method, from medical forms to license delivery, has now been computerised and paperless.

Special counters have also been set up at service centres for women and senior citizens.

During the inauguration of the system, the IG inspected all counters and appreciated the traffic police team for completing the project in a short time.

He also announced that the license fee payment system will soon be fully digital as well.

The CTO further said that the strict implementation of the paperless system will be made sure of.

Additionally, the staff have been instructed to treat citizens politely to improve the department’s image.

Driving licenses now available on same day

In Punjab, learner and regular driving licenses will now be issued on the same day. This has made the process easier for motorcyclists.

According to details, the Punjab Traffic Police has introduced an important change in the licensing system to improve public convenience.

Under this new policy, motorcyclists will be able to get both a learner permit and a regular driving license on the same day.

Statistics show that 2.354 million motorcycle licenses have been issued in Punjab this year so far. These include more than 1 million regular licenses.

In addition to this, over 6.71 million people have renewed their licenses. And 7.10 million have used learner-related services.
