Leading Chinese firm to establish digital economy headquarters in Pakistan

A prominent Chinese technology firm, IBI Beijing United Technology, is poised to set up its digital economy headquarters in Pakistan.

This initiative is expected to boost investment, foster innovation, and promote industrial collaboration within the nation’s swiftly growing information technology sector, as announced by the Prime Minister’s Office on Friday.

The choice to locate the headquarters in Pakistan follows a major meeting involving an 11-member delegation from IBI, headed by its founder, president, and controlling shareholder, Qian Xiaojun, who engaged with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

This visit occurs in the aftermath of the Pakistan-China B2B Investment Conference that took place in Beijing in September 2025.

In welcoming the delegation, the Prime Minister highlighted the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and China, referring to the two countries as “all-weather strategic cooperative partners.”

He praised China’s impressive advancements under President Xi Jinping and conveyed his eagerness for his upcoming visit to China later this month.

China introduces dual-core quantum computer

Earlier, China introduced the first ever dual-core neutral atomic quantum computer, named “Hanyuan-2,” a major advancement in the realm of neutral atomic quantum computing technology, moving from the previous single-core phase to a dual-core collaborative approach.

In comparison to Hanyuan-1, which is a 100-qubit neutral-atom quantum computing system, Hanyuan-2 boasts a 200-qubit dual-core architecture that allows for simultaneous computation and real-time error correction.

The system operates on less than seven kilowatts of power and negates the requirement for cryogenic cooling, thus facilitating reliable operation within standard laboratory settings.
