The federal government of Pakistan and all of the provincial governments have introduced a digital pension verification system aimed at making it easier for pensioners to complete mandatory proof-of-life checks and receive their payments without disruption.
Under the updated system, pensioners can verify that they are alive through biometric and digital verification methods, reducing the need for repeated visits to banks and government offices.
The verification process is linked with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and existing pension records. The system uses biometric technology and facial recognition to verify pensioners’ identities.
Pensioners have traditionally been required to submit proof-of-life verification under government pension rules to ensure that payments are made only to eligible recipients.
The system was introduced to replace traditional life certificates and help prevent fraudulent claims, duplicate pension payments and other irregularities.
The latest digital system is intended to allow eligible pensioners to complete the verification process remotely, making it particularly convenient for those who face difficulties travelling to banks or government offices.
NADRA has also made the Proof of Life certificate free for pensioners and expanded access to verification services.
Eligible pensioners can use the PakID mobile application for digital verification. They can also complete the process in person through NADRA registration centres and e-Sahulat franchises.
Officials say the modernised system is intended to make pension verification more convenient while strengthening safeguards around pension payments.
Pensioners are advised to follow the prescribed verification requirements and ensure that their biometric or digital proof-of-life verification is completed on time to avoid interruptions to pension payments.
