Karachi is set to host its first international electronic music event, with Swedish DJ and producer Axwell headlining First Light on September 19 at Moin Khan Academy (DHA Sports Club), according to a press statement issued by OP Productions.
Axwell, whose real name is Axel Christofer Hedfors, is a Swedish DJ and producer and a member of the renowned electronic music group Swedish House Mafia. He is regarded as one of the influential figures in modern electronic music.
Conceived and creatively directed by OP Productions CEO Omer H Paracha, First Light takes its name from the moment of dawn.
According to the organisers, the event has been designed as a cinematic, light-led production combining an international headline act with a purpose-built stage, large-format visuals and a strong focus on audience safety and overall experience.
Local artists Bilal Brohi and Hazey will open the night before Axwell takes the stage for his headline performance.
OP Productions said Pakistan represents a major untapped market for global live entertainment, pointing to the country’s population of more than 240 million and its young demographic as factors contributing to its potential audience for international touring artists.
The production company said First Light is intended to become a long-term platform for bringing international touring artists to Pakistan and helping place the country on the global touring circuit.
“First Light is about showing the world what Pakistan is ready for,” Paracha said.
“The people of Pakistan deserve the opportunity to experience events of this calibre, and as a nation we have every right to be on the global map,” he added.
The organisers said tickets for First Light are available through Ticketwala, with multiple categories offered for attendees. Limited-time early-bird prices are available across the ticket tiers.
A dedicated Pink section has also been reserved exclusively for solo women as part of the organisers’ stated commitment to providing a safe and welcoming environment.
