Ahead of the upcoming Eid al-Azha festival, a rare albino buffalo has turned into an unanticipated phenomenon in Bangladesh recently, drawing in visitors who are amazed at its flowing blond hair and state that it looks like US Leader Donald Trump due to its hairstyle.
The buffalo was raised at a farm in Narayanganj district close to Dhaka and earned its nickname “Donald Trump” due to its pale blond tuft of hair that hangs across its forehead, similar to many people’s impression of the American president’s signature style.
The strange animal was soon posted on social media with photos and videos making it one of the most talked-about Eid attractions in the country.
Dozens of visitors came from all over the districts to visit the buffalo, posing with the rare animal and taking videos of them.
Ziauddin Mridha, the owner of the farm, said the name was given to him by his younger brother as the buffalo looked like Trump’s hairdo.
Although it was so eye-catching, Mridha said the buffalo was calm and gentle. He said albinos’ temperament is not as aggressive as other buffaloes unless provoked.
The animal needed special treatment with four baths and four meals a day to ensure that the animal was healthy and presentable for Eid.
Albino buffaloes are extremely rare in Bangladesh, where buffaloes are usually dark-skinned.
Its body was cream colored, its nose pinkish and it had long blond hair, which made it stand out from the thousands of animals being sacrificed for Eid al-Azha, the Muslim festival in which animals are sacrificed.
In recent years, the “unusual” and “uncoloured” animals have been viral hits during Eid in Bangladesh, sometimes given celebrity names to generate a buzz.
The “Donald Trump” buffalo has become one of the main attractions of the festival this year.
