United States (US) President Donald Trump has issued a new threat to Iran via social media.
In a post on Truth Social, he said, “For Iran, the Clock is Ticking, and they better get moving, FAST, or there won’t be anything left of them. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE! President DJT.”
A ceasefire mediated by Pakistan is still in place between Iran and the United States.
US President Donald Trump has recently concluded his visit to China.
During his visit, Trump called President Xi Jinping a “great leader” and “friend”.
But the US leader said “a lot of good” has come out of the visit.
“We’ve made some fantastic trade deals, great for both countries,” he said, as Xi accompanied him through the gardens of Zhongnanhai, a central leadership compound next to Beijing’s Forbidden City.
Trump said that the Chinese President had agreed Tehran must reopen the Strait of Hormuz, though China gave no indication it would weigh in.
Trump said he was considering whether to lift US sanctions on Chinese oil companies buying Iranian oil. China is the biggest buyer of Iranian oil.
“I am not asking for any favours because when you ask for favours, you have to do favours in return,” Trump said.
Ebrahim Azizi, who heads the Iranian parliament’s national security committee, had said that Tehran had prepared a mechanism to manage traffic through the strait along a designated route that would be unveiled soon.
