The educational degrees of 27 employees of Dow University have been found to be fake, following which an order has been issued to recover all salaries paid to the employees.

According to details, a shocking revelation has emerged at Karachi’s renowned public-sector institution, Dow University of Health Sciences, regarding people securing jobs on the basis of fake degrees.

The educational degrees of 27 university employees have been proven fake during the verification process.

Taking serious notice of the fraud during an important meeting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), the committee ordered the immediate recovery of all salaries paid so far to all 27 employees recruited on the basis of fake degrees.

During the meeting, a report presented revealed that, out of Dow University’s total 5,350 employees, the degree verification process has so far been completed for only 1,945 employees, of whose degrees 27 turned out to be fake. Meanwhile, the verification of the educational documents of another 3,400 employees is still pending.

Considering the seriousness of the matter, the Public Accounts Committee has sought a detailed report on the verification of the educational degrees of employees working at all public-sector universities across the province.

Following the emergence of this major irregularity, serious questions have arisen over why transparent verification checks were not carried out at the time of recruitment of those who secured government jobs on the basis of fake degrees.
