Drones attack launched

Small drones launched by Afghan Taliban-backed Fitna al Khawarij were shot down in Abbottabad, Swabi, and Nowshera after Pakistan responded strongly to the Afghan Taliban’s unprovoked attack.

According to security officials, the attempted drone attacks were thwarted after Pakistan’s anti-drone systems successfully intercepted and destroyed all incoming drones. Officials confirmed that no casualties or damage were reported in the incidents.

Security sources stated that the events once again exposed what they described as a nexus between the Afghan Taliban regime and terrorist activities inside Pakistan.

Attaullah Tarar Federal Minister for information and Broadcasting has stated that militants, who are identified as Fitna al Khawarij tried to use small drones in Abbottabad, Swabi, Nowshera.

In a message posted on X the minister stated that Pakistan’s anti drones systems successfully caught and shot down all the drones before they could cause any form of harm. He said there was no death in the incidents.

The minister further said the attempted attacks once again showed what he called direct linkages between the Afghan Taliban regime and terrorist activities inside Pakistan.

In Swabi, a drone crash was reported within the jurisdiction of Swabi Police Station, according to District Police Officer (DPO) Waqas Rafiq. He confirmed that no loss of life occurred in the incident.

Following the report, the DSP along with a heavy police contingent rushed to the scene. A bomb disposal squad was also called in, and the area was cordoned off as a precautionary measure.

DPO Waqas Rafiq said authorities are conducting an initial assessment to determine the nature of the drone, including whether it was a commercial device or operated by a militant element.
