Dubai International Airport (DXB) has introduced a new artificial intelligence (AI) immigration system that lets passengers complete border checks without showing their passport, boarding pass, or other travel documents, according to reports on Thursday.
The new system will use AI, biometric cameras, and live flight information. It will allow it to confirm a passenger’s identity.
Additionally, it can also check up to 10 passengers at the same time. It can complete the process in just a few seconds. This is expected to reduce waiting times at one of the world’s busiest airports.
The system was first launched in September 2025 for passengers who were leaving Dubai on international flights. It has now been expanded to help passengers who are coming too, to complete immigration more quickly.
Passengers who register before reaching Dubai Airport can use special lanes without stopping to show their documents.
The system will simply check their identity through facial recognition and biometric data. Immigration clearance takes about 3.4 seconds.
The service is currently being tested for first class passengers at Terminal 3. They can pass through a special red carpet area without visiting a traditional immigration counter or using passport scanners.
Dubai Airports Chief Executive Officer Paul Griffiths said that the airport has invested in advanced camera and biometric technology to make travel easier and faster.
Abu Dhabi, Dubai to accept only e-passport applications
Pakistan has announced an important change to its passport services for citizens living in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). According to the details, from July 20, 2026, the Pakistani Embassy and Consulate in Abu Dhabi and Dubai will accept applications only for e passports. New applications for Machine Readable Passports (MRPs) will no longer be accepted.
According to the Pakistani diplomatic mission, the purpose of the decision is to provide overseas Pakistanis with modern and secure travel documents that meet international standards.
